Research Manitoba Invests Over $4.7 Million in Matching Funds for CFI Innovation Fund Projects

Today, Research Manitoba announces a total investment of $4,725,544 in provincial matching funds for three projects supported through the Canada Foundation for Innovation’s (CFI) Innovation Fund program.

This investment supports the development of Manitoba-based research infrastructure projects in the fields of genomics, heart disease and pollution control.

Research Manitoba’s matching funds support the following three projects:

Dr. Lorrie Kirshenbaum, Department of Physiology and Pathology, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba
Title: Discovery Platform for Metabolic Paradigms in Health and Disease
Total Research Manitoba Funding: $1,900,544
Total Leveraged Funds: $2,870,231

Dr. Patrick Frosk, Department of Pediatrics and Child Health, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba
Dr. Jordan Lerner-Ellis, Pathology and Laboratory Medicines, Sinai Health System
Dr. Kym Boycott, Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa
Title: The Canadian Genomics Data Commons
Total Research Manitoba Funding: $425,000
Total Leveraged Funds: $6,958,286

Dr. Andrew Halayko, Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba
Dr. Neeloffer Mookherjee, University of Manitoba
Title: AirSAFE Air Pollution Exposure Facility
Total Research Manitoba Funding: $2,400,000
Total Leveraged Funds: $3,599,999
