Acting CEO, Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba

We are pleased to announce Nichola Wigle has been appointed as acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba, effective April 1, 2024. She will help lead the institute while CHRIM’s Board of Directors begins its search for a new CEO.

Wigle began her career as a senior laboratory technician at the University of Ottawa, before moving to undertake studies in Developmental Neurobiology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She joined CHRIM in 2008 as facilities manager, steadily advancing over time to become Chief Operating Officer in 2016.

For the past 16 years, Wigle has been a strong foundation at CHRIM. Her passion for advancing child health has helped create a richly diverse and supportive environment linking clinical and fundamental research.

Wigle brings 30 years of extensive experience in the health research sector, having served as scientist, administrator, and leader in various capacities. We recognize her as a strong leader in research operations management with a successful track record in harmonizing processes and people. She is uniquely poised to understand the needs of an innovative, rapidly changing, and growing research environment.

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Nichola Wigle as she assumes her new role of acting CEO. We are confident in her ability to guide CHRIM through this transitional period and look forward to her continued contributions and leadership driving us towards achieving excellence in child health research in Manitoba.
