Local Business Woman Creates Innovative Prosthetics for Breast Cancer Patients

(Winnipeg, Manitoba) – February 6, 2014 – Wendy Smith empowers breast cancer patients and offers them a healthy alternative to reconstructive surgery.

Smith, founder and president of bressanté is a Certified Prosthetist and Clinical Anaplastologist and has been working for over three decades building an international reputation for excellence in the development of new techniques for creating highly detailed, medically and aesthetically accurate, fine prosthetic devices such as hands, fingers, ears, noses and breasts.

With a passion towards helping women with breast cancer, Smith founded bressanté Inc. as a way to provide a choice for women by helping them find the prosthetic solution that best fits their personal, professional and emotional needs while keeping their lifestyle demands in mind.

Whether a woman has had a mastectomy, lumpectomy or some other type of surgery, bressanté creates personalized, soft and lightweight custom-made silicone breast prosthesis to suit individual needs and lifestyles. bressanté cares about comfort and has created a product line of three options for women that need some help following breast surgery. Wearing a breast prosthesis is an option that women should be aware of and is often not offered as a choice following surgery.

As an advocate for choice, Smith has spoken at several international conferences on how the medical profession can offer more practical advice for dealing with the body changes and personal challenges that often accompany a diagnosis of breast cancer.

bressanté has been serving women across Canada and on Tuesday, February 11th, they will be opening their new head office and first retail location here in Winnipeg. This new location will give clients increased accessibility to their personalized service and high quality product. They are a leader in developing this technology and are at a point where they are able to market their product around the globe. bressanté works with authorized professionals across the country and are working to expand their reach.

With the support and assistance from the National Research Council’s Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP); Province of Manitoba; Business Development Bank of Canada; and Life Science Association of Manitoba (LSAM), Smith has been able to make her entrepreneurial dream a reality and has been able to extend her vision to beyond our border.
