LSAM Holiday Party a huge Success

LSAM’S MEMBERS RISK THEIR LIVES TO ATTEND HOLIDAY PARTY

Winnipeg, Dec. 5 – Yesterday afternoon 50 of LSAM’s (Life Science Association of Manitoba) members braved life-threatening road conditions and cold weather to attend LSAM’s annual holiday party at Pizzeria Gusto. 12-15 centimeters of snow fell yesterday, with high winds compromising driver visibility, yet these dedicated individuals made the journey to the event.

“When I saw the hints about door prizes on Twitter I knew I couldn’t miss the 2013 LSAM Holiday Party despite the growing snow drifts outside my door,” said Mavis McCrae, LSAM Board Member. “My efforts and cold feet were rewarded – delicious food, fabulous colleagues and secured a door prize. The next best outcome would have been to get snowed in at Pizzeria Gusto for the evening. Well worth strapping on the snowshoes to get there.“

“I’m amazed that so many of our members faced such harsh weather conditions to come to our holiday party,” said Erika Bell, LSAM’s manager of training. “One guest from last night said she left her office four hours before the event started. I think that shows how committed our members are. When they make a promise and RSVP to a party, they’ll do whatever it takes to fulfill that promise and get there on time.”

The holiday party ran from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. The restaurant served fleshly made antipastos like arancini, meatballs, and pizza and a variety of desserts like cannoli. The event ended with a draw for three gift bags from Kane Biotech, two Up24 bands, and two gift bags from David’s Tea.

“We love holding these events for our members because they’re a great opportunity for people in the industry to come together and connect,” said Stephen Szczerba, LSAM’s manager of membership services. “We have a lot more planned for the New Year, I just hope the weather cooperates better than last evening.”

The LSAM team is looking ahead to their next event, the LSAM gala, where companies in Manitoba’s life science industry receive awards for groundbreaking developments in the year. More information will be released soon.
