Youngevity Essential Life Sciences Initiates Research at the Richardson Center for Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals, University of Manitoba

Youngevity International Inc. (otcqx:YGYI) (www.YGYI.com), a global direct marketer of lifestyle and nutritional products and gourmet coffee, announced today that it will begin a series of clinical research studies at the prestigious Richardson Center for Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals (RCFFN) at the University of Manitoba.

The research will be coordinated by Professor Dr. Peter Jones, RCFFN's director and one of the world's foremost researchers in dietary and nutraceutical determinants in the control of fat, energy metabolism, and various other critical health issues. Dr. Ramprasath Vanu Ramkumar, Adjunct Professor and Research Associate for the Department of Human Nutritional Sciences at RCFFN, will also be conducting the research.

The RCFFN has focused on value-added foods, food bioactives, and nutraceuticals that offer health promotion, performance enhancement, and disease prevention and management since 2006. It has since received acclaim by many of the world's largest food and agricultural companies who have performed research at RCFFN to identify and validate ingredient, nutrient, and product benefits. The RCFFN is one of the most innovative and integrated research facilities in North America with plant bioprocessing capabilities, analytical labs equipped with some of the world's leading research technology, special care animal facilities, and a complex human health research unit.

"We are very excited to be able to work with world-class researchers, and not to mention the Research Chair of Canada in Functional Foods and Nutrition, Dr. Peter Jones and the RCFFN; their credentials and experience in the field of nutraceutical research speaks for itself. As with the studies performed at Clemson University in 2012, we are continuing our commitment to research and innovation," said Steve Wallach, Youngevity CEO.

The research will focus on specific health markers that have been shown in science and medicine to promote wellness and disease management. Youngevity worked closely with Dr. Peter Jones and his team of researchers to develop a study that will look at various aspects of Youngevity's 90 For Life and Healthy Body Challenge campaigns.

"We have been working for over five months to develop a study that would allow for the best analysis of the Youngevity products and further identify how they are relating to their respective health benefits. It's refreshing to work with a company who is so open to comprehensive research and has a true desire to find out how they can be best-in-class," said Dr. Peter Jones, RCFFN Director.

Youngevity expects to continue to work with a variety of academic and private organizations to provide further credibility to its nutraceuticals, proprietary ingredient blends, and many other specific nutrients they are well known for. The RCFFN research will be initiated immediately and is expected to conclude within the 2013 year.
