Manitoba Hydro is a Crown Corporation and the province’s major energy utility. They are headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and:

export electricity to over 30 electric utilities through our participation in four wholesale markets in Canada and the mid-western United States;

maintain a position of being the lowest cost provider of domestic electricity rates in Canada;

serve 521,600 electric customers throughout Manitoba and 261,150 natural gas customers in various communities throughout southern Manitoba;

offer a wide range of energy services and programs to customers, either directly or through our subsidiaries; • nearly all electricity they generate is from self-renewing water power from 14 hydroelectric generating stations, primarily on the Winnipeg, Saskatchewan and Nelson rivers;

are the major distributor of natural gas in the province, delivering natural gas to nearly 100 communities in the province;

have capital assets-in-service at original cost exceeding $11 billion, making them one of the largest energy utilities in Canada. The governance of the Corporation is through The Manitoba Hydro-Electric Board. Members are appointed by the Lieutenant-Governor in Council.
