Duties
ErosionControlBlanket is seeking an entry level Regional Sales Manager (RSM) or intern to grow into this position for our complete line of soil erosion control and revegetation products used on construction sites, mined lands, etc… The primary area to be covered by the RSM is in the central region of Canada but may expand depending on the applicant’s experience. The RSM must develop plans that detail how they and their distributors will meet sales goals or quotas. The RSM will prepare monthly reports that provide sales figures to corporate leaders, as well as reports that forecast expected future sales. The RSM must develop sales strategies and prepare marketing budgets. The RSM must also recruit new customers and ensure that existing customers receive excellent service. The RSM must make presentations, demonstrate products and represent the company at trade shows and with distributors. They also conduct regional sales meetings for their representatives. The RSM must also monitor and evaluate the competition's product lines and suggest new products that will help the company expand its business.
Skills
The RSM needs strong communication and presentation skills. After analyzing a potential customer's business, managers should be able to explain how their products and services can meet the client's needs. Managers need the ability to coach and train the sales representatives their distributor’s hire.
The RSM must be highly energetic and organized as this position requires extensive travel and is home based. The RSM must be analytical and a capable problem solver who understand how to inspire distributor sales staff. The RSM must also exhibit top-notch communication skills with a thorough understanding of marketing and customer service. On top of all this, the regional sales managers must be prepared to spend time traveling between sites, and must have basic computer and math skills.
Personal Traits
The RSM must take ownership of their position and demonstrate a commitment to success. The RSM should work well independently and possess a high-energy level and competitive nature. A willingness to travel is expected. All reasonable expenses for travel are covered by the company.
Education and Experience
Because of the technical nature of the company, its products and the agricultural nature of the business a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Agriculture is desired with some plant and soil science courses. Previous experience in a customer service oriented position would be beneficial.
Salary is dependent on experience and abilities of applicant. The company will provide a laptop computer, cell phone and service, basic home office supplies and equipment, and other office needs.
