LSAM’s first-ever “Venture Zone” was a stand-alone pitch competition for students from Manitoba colleges and universities. It’s an event designed to promote our sector to students from several faculties, while offering a casual, business-friendly event to draw attention to the sector as a whole. The inaugural event brought students, administrators, government officials, business leaders and professors all into one audience (there were over 50 attendees).
The second Venture Zone will focus on Functional Foods, Nutriceuticals, AgBio products and supporting services and technologies.
Judging sponsors are entitled to provide or nominate one judge for the event, who will be seated in front of a banner bearing the judging company’s logo. Competitors can win cash prizes of $1,500 and $500.00, in addition to any other prizes donated by sponsors. Entrants are encouraged to work in teams of up to three to promote cross-faculty and interdisciplinary thinking.
